Teachers’ Challenge Activity 1
I registered for this challenge because I have used individual student blogs under the umbrella of our class blog for two and a bit years now. The aim is to encourage my students to use the Inquiry Learning Approach to study a topic of their own choice related to the class one. They usually have term to do this and I assess it online (unofficially) at the end of term. The students really like the the way that they can personalise their blogs and they enjoy sharing them – two students a day – with the rest of the class. The students also independently learn a lot about their topic as they research the internet, post the answers to their questions and post pictures and videos from You Tube – especially the latter.
I just want to explore Edublogs to discover ways that I can use Blogs that I haven’t been aware of. I hope that I will then be able to enhance my students’ experiences as well so that they get a deeper understanding of their learning.
The part of blogging that I have found difficult has been setting up the individual student blogs under the Room 9 class blog, although I have to say that my understanding is improving!!
The part that I don’t seem to able to manage is to delete an student’s blog once they have moved on. I don’t really want to do this in case they want to continue blogging, but if I keep the number under 50 then I can continue without having to move to Campus which is outside the realms of possibility at St. Patrick’s at the moment. I don’t seem to get the email to confirm the deletion??
